Requesting TNR Help

Community Focused TNRM means that any TNR efforts are led by feeders and community members who are commited in caring for their community cats by fixing and montoring their own cat colonies

While we help with transporting and caring for the cats post-spay/neuter, any additional support is greatly appreciated.

The TNR Process

  1. Complete the form below and provide as many details as possible to help us plan our trapping efforts. Due to the volume of requests I receive, I may respond within a week and get to your colony several weeks after you reach out. Please note in your form if you have any unfixed female cats in your colony including pregnant female cats or kittens under 8 weeks old

  2. I will schedule a time to come out with traps a day before the scheduled TNR appointments. Trapping will require not feeding the cat colony at least 8 hours before trapping time to ensure the cats are hungry enough to go into the trap. Please remove any dry food and wet food from the feeding site.

  3. I will hold the cats overnight and transport the cat(s) in the morning to the clinic. I will also pick up the cats from the clinic after the procedure is completed and hold the cats overnight. Cats are fed in the evening of their surgery and monitored for any complications post-surgery.

  4. Cats will be released 24-36 hours after their spay/neuter day if they are healthy. I will provide information for any additional follow-up care required for the cats in your colony. Please note: Some cats require at least 48 hours or more of recovery time especially if they are injured or were pregnant.

  5. Depending on the size of the colony, I will return several times to conduct more trapping to fully sterilize your cat colony. You will be responsible for monitoring your cat colony for any changes including new cats or kittens.

RESCUE OF SICK AND/OR FRIENDLY ADULT CATS: Please note Boyle Heights Cats is an entirely volunteer-run organization so we may not have the capacity to foster any additional friendly or sick adult cats or locate a rescue for the animals. I heavily depend on the generosity of feeders or finders to temporarily foster the cats/kittens encountered for at least a period of 1-3 weeks while a rescue is found.

TNR Request Form

Due to the volume of TNR requests in the area, we will get back within a week or two. There is currently at least a month wait for TNR appointments. We are not a rescue nor do we intake community cats for removal. Intake is currently closed.
